The roller coaster of our lives has had so many up and downs with this adoption process that you can either step back and laugh or cry! And I will be honest there are those days like today, that I just don't know whether to laugh or cry!
As many of you know we got caught up in the middle of the Ukraine SDA changing their government offices and duties around and now the adoption part of their government is run by the Ministry of Social Policy. So the government shut down for weeks to change offices and duties back in the Fall while we were gathering paperwork to complete the dossier. When they reopened they had changed the dossier requirements, meaning that we had to redo most all of our dossier documents and then have them all notarized again. So fast forward to Dec. and the government shuts down for the holidays till end of January. The Ministry of Social Policy says they will start processing dossiers 1st of Feb. Well our dossier had been there since January, was translated, so we felt sure that everything was finally moving along. Well 2 weeks into the dossier sitting there, we find out that the offices in fact did not start processing dossiers till the 11th of Feb.! So at some point they finally get to our dossier and last week we find out that they are missing two documents of ours!! Our agency as well as us, know that the documents were in there and were properly notarized and apostilled! So our agency says, let's give them a couple of days, they will find the papers!! Guess what? They did find the papers that were missing, they were attached to the packet the whole time! BUT come to find out TODAY, that what it means is that our dossier was technically rejected b/c of missing paperwork! So it will have to be resubmitted on Monday!
So we have "lost" another 3 weeks in this process and it makes me so sad for Ivan and Anatoliy! I just don't have the heart to tell them we are now looking at traveling in April - all b/c of someone elses mistake! Also now that the Ministry runs the adoptions, there are more people who have to look over paperwork, etc. So they aren't giving out dates to travel within 2 weeks like they used to, but closer to 3 weeks now.
So by time you factor in travel and actually bringing the boys home, they won't be here till May, and that means not being able to get them into school as planned, which is a frustration for me! The boys need structure and routine and sadly I don't know how to even plan for them anymore! We had everything planned out for them, testing, schools, tutors and now everything is put on hold again, with no plan!
Very frustrating day! Please say a prayer for our family to get a date quickly and most importantly for the boys, who will have to hear again that we are delayed in coming to get them!
